
WPL 2026 matches scheduled for January 14 and 15 at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium will be played behind closed doors due to municipal corporation elections.
Women’s Premier League(WPL) 2026 matches at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will be held without spectators on January 14 and January 15 because of municipal corporation elections in the city. The decision affects two fixtures in the early phase of the 2026 season.
On January 14, Delhi Capitals will play the UP Warriorz. The following day, defending champions Mumbai Indians face UP Warriorz at the same venue.
League officials confirmed that the move was made after local authorities highlighted security and logistical challenges during the election period. Normal attendance will resume from January 16, when Gujarat Giants meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Navi Mumbai.
“The TATA WPL 2026 matches scheduled for January 14 and January 15, 2026, at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, will be conducted behind closed doors, without spectators. This decision has been taken in light of the Municipal Corporation Elections in Navi Mumbai on January 15, 2026,” the official statement read.
“Spectators will be permitted entry into the stadium from January 16, 2026 onwards, and all subsequent matches will be played with crowds in attendance,” it added.

All remaining fixtures at the venue will take place with fans present, as scheduled, for the rest of the tournament.
