BCCI Mandates Equal Match Fees for Domestic Women and Men Cricketers

BCCI announces equal match fees for domestic women and men cricketers.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has enacted a revised pay structure, establishing equal match fees for domestic women and men cricketers.

This landmark decision extends the board’s 2022 equal pay policy to the grassroots level, marking a significant advance in addressing gender pay disparity within Indian cricket. The move is seen as a major investment in the women’s game following the national team’s recent historic achievements.

Under the new framework, senior women players will now earn INR 50,000 per day for one-day and multi-day matches when in the playing XI, and INR 25,000 for T20s. This represents a 150% increase from previous rates. The policy also encompasses junior women cricketers, whose match fees have been similarly elevated.

The BCCI is keen to build on the momentum generated by the women’s team’s success. The decision comes following India’s historic victory at the Women’s ODI World Cup in November 2025, where the senior women’s team clinched their first-ever World Cup title on home turf.

The board stated it is “keen to build on the momentum generated by that achievement and ensure sustained success by investing in the domestic structure.”
