India cricketer Deepti Sharma achieved a landmark record as India completed a strong T20I series win over Sri Lanka. Deepti Sharma became the highest wicket-taker in women’s T20 internationals during the fifth match of the series. She took her 152nd wicket to move past Megan Schutt(152 wickets) to the top of the all-time list.
The milestone came in the 14th over, when Deepti dismissed Nilakshika Silva leg before wicket. She has now taken 152 wickets in 133 matches, with an average of 19.

Harmanpreet Kaur Credits Year-Long Hard Work for Series Win
In the match, India defended 175 for 7 and sealed a 15-run win. Skipper India captain Harmanpreet Kaur anchored the batting with a fluent 68 from 43 balls. Her innings included nine fours and one six. Speaking after the match, Harmanpreet revealed that 2025 has rewarded sustained hard work and preparation. The captain also stressed the need to maintain standards and repeat successful habits.
“2025 has been great for us. All the hard work we have done, this year we have got the credit. It’s about repeating these habits. Shifting to T20 from ODI wasn’t easy but everyone was excited to play. We fought for this and happy how all things came together,” she said.
The focus now shifts to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales. India will begin their World Cup campaign against Pakistan on June 14.
