India delivered a commanding performance to defeat Australia by five wickets in the third T20I at Hobart, successfully chasing 188 with nine balls to spare. The visitors reached 188 for 5 after restricting Australia to 186 for 6, levelling the five-match series 1-1. This win marked India’s highest successful run chase against Australia in T20Is and Australia’s first-ever loss in the format at Hobart.
Abhishek Sharma gave India a flying start before falling to Nathan Ellis, while captain Suryakumar Yadav’s brisk 24 off 11 balls set the tone early. Shubman Gill’s struggles continued, but Axar Patel and Tilak Varma kept the momentum steady in the middle overs. The chase was sealed through Washington Sundar’s stunning unbeaten 49 off 23 balls, well supported by Jitesh Sharma’s finish. India now head to Adelaide with the series evenly poised at 1-1.
