Jason Holder has come up as a key figure in the Gujarat Titans’ resurgence in IPL 2026 after earning a regular spot in the XI. The all-rounder delivered a decisive spell of 4/24 against Punjab Kings, guiding GT to their third straight win. He had earlier impressed with figures of 2/29 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and contributed with sharp catches in the field. His ability to bowl consistent lengths has added control to the attack.
Holder’s experience remains vital. He led the West Indies in 37 Tests between 2015 and 2020 and built a reputation as a dependable all-rounder.

Despite focusing on T20 cricket over the last 1.5 years, Holder said he still aims to return to the longest format. He last played Test cricket in August 2024 and continues to keep that option open.
“Fair to say that, last year and a half I have only played T20 cricket, haven’t played Test cricket. I would love to still play some Test-match cricket. I haven’t yet closed that chapter,” Holder was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
Jason Holder Seeks Improvement in Finishing Role
Notably, Jason Holder has made a strong start in IPL 2026, picking up 7 wickets in 4 matches at an economy rate of 6.94 for Gujarat Titans. Holder said he expects more from himself in finishing games despite staying confident about his role. He added that maintaining a positive mindset and executing plans under pressure remain his key focus areas.

“I am probably a little disappointed that I didn’t finish the last two games. But I am still in a good frame of mind. That’s the most important thing for me. Just keeping a fresh mind, staying positive, understanding my role, and just trying to execute when called upon. Just try to make an impact and execute as well as I can under pressure,” he concluded.
Gujarat Titans will next face Rajasthan Royals on May 9 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
