Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah missed India’s third T20I against South Africa in Dharamsala due to personal reasons. He returned home before the match.
A close family member is hospitalised. This necessitated his sudden departure. A senior BCCI official provided an update on his condition.
“If all goes well, then he might return for the fourth or even fifth game (in Ahmedabad). But first priority is recovery of his family member,” the official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
India Secures Series Lead Despite Jasprit Bumrah’s Absence
In Bumrah’s absence, India delivered a comprehensive performance. They defeated South Africa by seven wickets to take a 2-1 series lead.
South Africa was bowled out for 117 after being put in to bat. Captain Aiden Markram scored 61, but no other batter passed 15. Indian bowlers shared the wickets. Harshit Rana took two early wickets. Hardik Pandya claimed his 100th T20I wicket.

India chased the target of 118 in 15.5 overs. Abhishek Sharma provided a quick start with 35 off 19 balls. Shubman Gill made 28. Shivam Dube finished the match with a six and a four.
The fourth T20I will be played in Lucknow on Wednesday. India will hope for Bumrah’s return depending on his family situation.
