‘Your Husband Is Very Rude’: KL Rahul Shares Hilarious Banter With Kevin Pietersen

KL Rahul recalled his funny exchanges with Kevin Pietersen during IPL 2025, revealing he once told Pietersen’s wife Jessica that her husband was “too rude” to him.

Star Indian batter KL Rahul recently opened up about his light-hearted banter with England legend Kevin Pietersen during the 2025 IPL season, where both were part of the Delhi Capitals setup. Pietersen served as mentor while Rahul joined the side from Lucknow Super Giants, and their friendly exchanges became a fan favourite online.

Speaking on the 2 Sloggers YouTube podcast, Rahul shared that his wife Athiya Shetty once scolded him after watching clips of their playful interactions posted by Delhi Capitals’ social media team.

“Our banter is different. He is a great sport. He gives it to you also,” Rahul laughed. “There was this video, and there were two-three times where I said something and DC posted it on Instagram. So, my wife was telling me, ‘Why are you being so mean? He is such a sweet guy.’”

Rahul added that what fans saw online was only a small glimpse of their constant back-and-forth. “I said, ‘Half the things that he does to me and tells me, that doesn’t come out.’ This is three times that I have given out of the 100 times he is after my life,” he said.

The wicketkeeper-batter also recalled a funny moment during a dinner with Pietersen and his wife, Jessica, earlier this year in the UK. “I complained to his wife when we were in the UK. They invited me for dinner and I told her, ‘Tell your husband to go easy on me. He is very rude to me,’” Rahul said with a laugh.

Their camaraderie became one of the most enjoyable storylines of Delhi Capitals’ 2025 IPL campaign. Pietersen, who had once criticised Rahul’s conservative T20 approach, later praised him for his aggressive and match-winning performances throughout the season.
