No Kane Williamson As New Zealand Announce Squad For India White-Ball Tour

New Zealand have announced their white-ball tour of India with Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra rested.

New Zealand have unveiled their squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of India in January. The team will play three One-Day Internationals followed by five Twenty20 Internationals, with the T20 series serving as crucial preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

The ODI squad features significant changes, introducing several new faces, while the T20I group closely resembles the recent winning side against the West Indies.

The selectors have opted for a fresh approach in the 50-over format, resting key players and managing workloads ahead of a busy schedule.

“Jayden has been an identified player of interest for some time and has some good New Zealand “A” experience under his belt. He’s consistently been one of the top performers in white-ball cricket domestically for a number of seasons,” said Head Coach Rob Walter on the maiden call-up for left-arm spinner Jayden Lennox.

Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra Rested

Regular T20I captain Mitchell Santner is only part of the shorter-format squad as he recovers from a groin injury. Tom Latham and Matt Henry miss the ODIs due to personal reasons and injury rehab, respectively.

Star players Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, and top-ranked T20 bowler Jacob Duffy have been rested from the ODI series.

The new-look ODI squad will be led by all-rounder Michael Bracewell. It includes uncapped pace bowler Kristian Clarke and recent Test debutant Michael Rae, alongside the newly-selected Lennox. The T20I squad sees the return of Bevon Jacobs, Glenn Phillips, and Matt Henry, replacing Tim Seifert and Nathan Smith from the previous series.
