Shubman Gill will play for Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy following his omission from the national T20 squad.
Shubman Gill has been named in Punjab’s squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy domestic tournament. This move comes after the Indian batsman was left out of the national squad for the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand and the next T20 World Cup.
Gill, along with pace bowler Arshdeep Singh, is also part of India’s ODI team to face New Zealand, which creates a potential clash in schedules.
The ODI series begins on January 11, just three days after Punjab’s final group stage match on January 8. This tight turnaround means their participation for Punjab is uncertain. A statement from the Punjab Cricket Association noted, “The availability of Shubman Gill and Arshdeep Singh for the tournament will be subject to the national team’s commitments.”
