Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: Sri Lanka Reveal 15-Member Squad

Sri Lanka announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with Chamari Athapaththu as captain.

Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled in England from June 12 to July 5. Veteran all-rounder Chamari Athapaththu will captain the side in her 10th Women’s T20 World Cup appearance.

Sri Lanka included young talents like batter Vishmi Gunaratne, seamer Kawya Kavindi and 17-year-old wrist-spinner Shashini Gimhani. Gimhani already has 7 T20I appearances and became Sri Lanka’s youngest international cricketer at 15.

Meanwhile, Rashmika Sewwandi, Dewmi Vihanga and Inoka Ranaweera missed selection despite featuring against Bangladesh recently.

Sri Lanka Begin Campaign Against England

Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team will compete in Group 2 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. This is alongside England, New Zealand, West Indies, Ireland and Scotland.

Sri Lanka will open their campaign against hosts England at Edgbaston on June 12. They will then face New Zealand in Southampton on June 16 before taking on West Indies and Ireland in Bristol on June 21 and June 23. Their final league match against Scotland will take place in Manchester on June 26.

The top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals on June 30 and July 2 at The Oval, while Lord’s Cricket Ground will host the final on July 5. Sri Lanka will leave for England on June 3 as preparations enter the final stage.
