Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is on the verge of a historic India debut after impressing selectors with fearless performances in IPL 2026.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India selection committee has reportedly taken a major step toward rewarding rising star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for his remarkable performances in IPL 2026.
The 15-year-old prodigy has emerged as a strong contender for India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland, scheduled to take place in June following the IPL season. India are set to play two matches on June 26 and 28, and Sooryavanshi’s name has already been shortlisted.
“He is in contention for the Ireland tour and the selectors have shortlisted his name along with those of many other players,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
Chance to Create History at Just 15
If given an opportunity, Sooryavanshi could script history by becoming India’s youngest-ever international cricketer, surpassing the iconic Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at the age of 16.

The move reflects the selectors’ intent to fast-track the talented youngster, potentially easing him into international cricket against relatively less challenging opposition. A successful outing in Ireland could also strengthen his chances for the subsequent tour of Zimbabwe, where India are scheduled to play three matches between July 23 and 26.
Fearless IPL Performances Turn Heads
Sooryavanshi’s rapid rise has been fueled by his fearless approach against some of the world’s best bowlers in IPL 2026. The youngster stunned fans by taking on Jasprit Bumrah, smashing him for two sixes in just five deliveries, including one off the very first ball.
He further showcased his attacking intent against Josh Hazlewood during a clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, hammering 19 runs in a single over with three boundaries and a six. To top it off, he also struck consecutive sixes against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, underlining his fearless mindset and match-winning potential.
