
Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Rajat Patidar picked the same young player in a Star Sports interaction, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi emerging as IPL 2026’s rising star.
In a recent Star Sports interaction, three IPL 2026 captains named a young player they would like in their teams. Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Rajat Patidar all picked 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
Sooryavanshi represents Rajasthan Royals and joined the team in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He made his debut last season and has quickly gained attention across IPL 2026.

During the interaction, the Indian skipper highlighted Sooryavanshi as a rising talent.Kishan, who is leading Sunrisers Hyderabad as stand-in captain, also backed the teenager. Patidar, captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, echoed the same view.

“I think Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Kyuki vo dusri team se aayega toh… Jaisa hum log ka game hai usko bhi suit karega and I think opening mein Vaibhav jaise maarta hai waise maare toh what’s better (I think Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, because if he comes from the other team, he will suit our style of play as well. And I think if he bats in the opening the way he usually hits, then what could be better?)” Ishan said.
Notably, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made a strong impact for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026. He has played 3 matches and scored 52, 31 and 39 runs. The 15-year-old impressed in the opening game with a 15-ball half-century against Chennai Super Kings.
He continued his form in the April 7 match against Mumbai Indians. Sooryavanshi smashed 39 off 14 balls His quick innings included one four and five sixes.
