Yashasvi Jaiswal was hospitalised on Tuesday, December 16, after being diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis following a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 Super League match in Pune. The Mumbai vs. Rajasthan match took place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. According to reports from The Indian Express, Jaiswal experienced stomach cramps during the game, with it increasing after the match ended.
The 23-year-old batter was taken to the Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Medical examinations, including ultrasound and CT scans, confirmed the diagnosis. He received IV medication and was advised to rest along with continued treatment. The BCCI has not released an official health update yet.

In the match, Mumbai successfully chased a target of 217 to win by three wickets. Ajinkya Rahane remained unbeaten on 72, while Sarfaraz Khan hit 73 off 22 balls. Mumbai later exited the tournament.

In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Jaiswal scored 145 runs across three matches at an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.6. He also impressed during India’s recent ODI series against South Africa, scoring 156 runs in three games at an average of 78. The highlight of the series came on December 6 in Visakhapatnam, where he struck his maiden ODI century.
With no immediate international fixtures, Jaiswal is expected to have adequate recovery time. He is likely to return during India’s upcoming three-match 50-over home series against New Zealand in mid-January.
