Rashid Latif claimed the PSL ball-tampering controversy may have been amplified for attention, comparing it to The Hundred.
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif shared his view on the recent PSL ball-tampering controversy. He suggested that such issues often gain attention beyond the actual incident.
Latif avoided discussing specific ball-tampering claims in detail. He indicated that similar situations had occurred in earlier eras of cricket. He said controversies can act as tools to draw public interest.

“I don’t want to talk about ball tampering. Otherwise, I will have to talk about my playing days as it will be unfair to just talk about the current players,” he said.
Latif then compared the situation with promotional tactics seen in entertainment. He also mentioned how certain leagues gained attention through controversy.
“If any film is coming out and you know that it will be flop, it is made into a controversy. Like they did with The Hundred when they said that no Pakistan player will be playing. No one knew The Hundred before that,” he said.
“Now there is a controversy in PSL and it will become headlines. This news will not be relevant for more than 24 hours,” Latif added.
The debate started after a match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium. Allegations of ball tampering surfaced during the game. Several players have strongly rejected the claims. Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sikandar Raza denied any wrongdoing.
